The experts of the Grand Egyptian Museum Conservation Center (GEM-CC) are currently working on the last 3 sets of mural paintings in the GEM-JC Project, preparing for their transportation to the GEM-CC.
After setting up the scaffolds needed for work, the Egyptian and Japanese mural painting conservators started the first aid process on these paintings at the Egyptian Museum in El tahrir. The first aid process is essential to ensure the safety of the mural paintings during transportation, by facing them (covering the surface of the murals with sheets) to prevent any paint or fragments from falling off the surface of the murals during transportation.
These 3 sets were excavated from In-Sneferu-Ishetef’s Mastaba, Dahshur, before being transported and displayed at the Egyptian Museum in El tahrir. Now, the paintings are set to be transported to the GEM-CC to be investigated, conserved and finally displayed at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
