The Grand Egyptian Museum Joint Conservation Project Seminar took place last week on the 29th of August, 2018 at the Grand Egyptian Museum Conservation Center.
This seminar was planned to be a form of public relations to the project by introducing the work of the project to the conservators at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and share the experiences of the project conservators to each other.
The seminar started with a welcoming remark by Dr. Tarek Tawfik, the General Supervisor of the GEM, followed by an overview of the project by Dr. Hussein Kamal, General Director of Conservation Technical Affairs of the GEM, and Ms. Akiko Nishisaka, Deputy Manager of the GEM-JC project. After which representatives from the packing and transportation team, wood team, mural painting team, textile team, fumigation team, documentation and diagnostic analysis team of the project explained their project work and shared the achieved results to the audience.
Finally, the day ended with a short discussion between the conservators and the speakers to share more details about the GEM-JC project work. And before the audience left, they gave us a positive feedback about the seminar, emphasizing that they have learnt a lot from the lectures that were given.
We would like to thank Dr. Osama Abu Elkheir, General Director of Conservation Affairs of the GEM, for all his efforts and support in organizing GEM-JC seminar.
